How to Make Your Price Tags
The way you price things is very important because this is how you get paid. If we can't read your number or if you forget your number, we try to match the writing up to other tags, but we can't be sure that the money is going to the right person.
We will no longer accept items that have been tagged with paper or post-it notes or are smaller or larger than they are supposed to be. This sale is staffed completely by volunteers and it is so hard to add/separate tags that are made out of paper or post-it notes or are the wrong size. Please remember, our average sales now have around 30,000 items to sell. Sorting and adding the items that sell takes hours and when you are adding and trying to flip tags over, it slows the process when they are sticking to each other or the wrong size and if they stick to each other and don't get added into the sale, you lose money.
That being said, all tags need to be made from a WHITE 3 X 5 index card cut in half and only blue or black ink used to write on tags.
On the left in the picture below is the way to make your tags. On the right, is an example of one of the school’s tags. If you will NOT accept half off of your item on the last day of the sale, please use a standard hole puncher to punch a hole in the top left corner of your tag which is shown in the bottom picture below. Tiny hole punches, star punches or holes poked with a pen are easily missed at checkout which means you lose money.
OR YOU CAN SKIP THE POST CARDS AND USE OUR TEMPLATE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS SECTION!
This is a template that will make things easier when tagging. You can print it out and fill in the blanks, then more than likely, nothing will be forgotten. However, these MUST BE printed on WHITE CARD STOCK ONLY and do not reduce the size. We will refuse items if they are brought in with tags on regular paper.
Price tags for clothing must be pinned on your item with a straight pin OR safety pin. If your item is 2 or more pieces, please make sure to put a safety pin through all pieces pinning them together so they do not get lost. Price tags for bagged items can be either taped to the bag or inserted inside the bag. Price tags for single items can be taped to the item at the top and the bottom of the tag. Further detail is given below under "How to Display Shoes, Books, Toys, and More." We will not sell anything with a price changed on the tag. We have no way of knowing if the consignor made the price change or if someone is trying to get your item at a cheaper price.
All tags should be placed on the top right-hand corner of your item with the pins on the outside of the garment so they are easy to remove at checkout. Also, please use as little tape as possible. Too much packing tape makes checkout difficult and your consignor number may get ripped off and we have no idea who the item belongs to when sorting tags.
Lastly and very importantly, only price things in whole dollar increments, no cents and nothing should be priced less than $1.00. If you don't think your item is worth at least $1.00, then add another item to it.

How to Display Shoes, Books, Toys and More
All shoes go in large plastic bags with a price tag either inside the bag or taped to the outside of the bag. If the shoes are too big for a plastic bag, you can zip tie them together. Please do NOT put the zip tie through the price tag. It makes a hole, so we don't know to take half off or not on half-off day or your tags get ripped when we are trying to remove them from the zip tie. Please tape the tag to the shoes.
If you are selling one book or one DVD, the price tag is taped to the item.
If you are selling more than one book or DVD as a set, please put them in a large plastic bag and either put the tag inside or tape it to the outside of the bag.
If you are selling multiple toys as a set, please put them in a large plastic bag and either put the tag inside or tape it to the outside of the bag.
If you are selling a large play-set that has multiple pieces such as a Polly Pocket house, please put all small pieces into a large plastic bag and tape the plastic bag with packaging tape to the house. The price tag should be taped to the house. You can use packaging tape if the scotch tape is not holding to the house. On your price tag, please write, "Polly Pocket house with bag of accessories" so that we know there should be a bag that goes to your house.

PRICE GUIDE
TCA Kids consignors choose their own selling price. This Price Guide is only a suggestion for you to use as a reference. In general, price the item at 25-40% of what you originally paid for the item. You should take into account the brand and condition of the item. You should be comfortable with the asking price. We want you to make money and not have to take your items back home, so here are a few things to keep in mind when pricing:
1. Would you buy the item for the price you are asking?
2. When you are pricing the item, ask yourself, "what is the lowest amount I would take for this?" then price it. Remember, if you don't want a lower amount than the price you choose, punch a hole in the tag so the item will stay full price on half-price day.
3. Do not price your items too high thinking that you will sell it for the half-off price on Saturday. Most of our customers show up the first day and are willing to pay reasonable prices.
