How does this work?
TCA KIDS Consignment Sale Guidelines
Tri-State Christian Academy has a consignment sale to help raise money for scholarships for children whose parents can’t afford the full tuition.
Our consignment sale is for anyone wanting to sell gently used or even new kids’ items. You pay a $10 fee to be a consignor and then you price your items at home and bring them to Mercy Baptist Church in Weirton on drop-off days/times. We sell them for you and do the advertising through FB, our website and signs around town. We literally sell thousands of items in a few days. We keep 40% of the sale and you get 60%. Easy, huh?
If you volunteer for two 3-hour shifts during the sale, your $10 consignor fee will be returned to you with your earned money from the sale. Another bonus for being a consignor is an early shopping day. We have a time set up for only consignors to shop before the huge sale starts. (The volunteer time is n/a for the toy sale and we do not have early shopping for the toy sale.)
Things you need to know before consigning:
1. We will not allow anything in the sale that smells of smoke or has a hole or is ripped, stained, dingy, shabby, older than 5 years (such as VHS tapes), nor do we sell mattresses. We also check all car seats' dates and also to make sure there has not been a recall for them. We also do not allow anything with vulgarity on it, adult books, movies etc. We are a Christian school and strive to be like Christ in all things.
All items are checked and will be refused if any of these things apply.
2. When you bring your items to the church, they must be separated by boy/girl and size and you must help hang the items after they have been inspected. Again, we literally have thousands of items and never enough volunteers to help.
3. You will be assigned a consignor number and will use that to make your price tags. Please see our “How to Price and Display” page. This is how you get paid, so always remember to put your consignor number on your price tag.
4. Your consignor fee is due on the day that you drop off your items. This is a much easier way to keep track of who has paid and not paid. Bring your fee and you can hang your items for sale and receive your Early Bird Consignor Shopping Pass.
5. We accept almost anything that is kid related. Clothing of course is what we get the most of. We take clothing sizes newborn to XL (18) Juniors. Some of the things that we have sold are shoes, strollers, breast pumps, bassinets, cribs (no drop-downs), daybeds, twin beds, bunk beds, dressers, bikes, toys, books, shoes, hair bows, ceramic dolls, belts, DVD’s, CD’s, Wii games, Playstation games, board games, hats, coats, costumes etc. Anything that a kid will use or play with is sold. We are sorry, but we can't take stuffed animals unless they are new, with tags.
6. All items must be priced in whole dollar increments and nothing can be priced less than $1.00. We can’t divide cents in half easily on half off day. We try to keep the checkout lines going as quickly as possible.
7. All clothing items must be hung on hangers, shoes must be in a plastic zip bag or zip-tied together, multiple toys items must be in a plastic zip bag, multiple books must be in a plastic zip bag etc. Please see our "How to Price and Display" page.
8. All movies, books/magazines, games (video or board), comic books, and CD's must be rated G or PG. We will not sell anything with violence, nudity, excessive swearing etc.
9. Each sale we sell seasonal items. So, for the fall sale, we will sell winter coats, boots etc. There should be no sandals, swimsuits and so on at the fall sale. For the spring sale, we will sell jackets, tank tops, swimsuits etc. There should be no costumes, winter coats or boots and so on at the spring sale. Jeans and outdoor play things are allowed to be sold at either sale.
10. If you are selling a battery-operated item, it has to have batteries in it so that our customers can see that it works.
